Battlefield 6 accused of selling “AI copy” of Call of Duty artwork
As Battlefield 6 comes under fire for allegedly selling AI-created cosmetics, players are accusing EA’s shooter of selling artwork copied from Call of Duty.
In a Reddit post on January 30, user ForeGhost1013 said, “They aren’t beating the allegations with this one,” showing the Call of Duty: Ghosts logo and Objective Ace skin from Battlefield 6.
The skin is part of the Season 1 Battlefield Pro bundle, which was included in the $100 Phantom Edition, or could be bought separately for $25.
Players pointed out similarities between the Ghosts logo and the Battlefield skin, highlighting the various cracks and chips that appear to match.
“Looks like an AI copy, why would an artist draw the crack going through the lower face?” asked one reply.
“I think the little empty spot on the upper right eye is what [convinced] me that it is AI copied,” said another.
One user said that ghost masks aren’t unique to Call of Duty, to which another player replied, “The edges on the lower jaw, the chip over the eye on the left, and the crack running across the cheeks are almost identical. Yes skulls are nothing new, but this one literally looks like an AI haphazardly copied the Ghosts mask design.”
Another Battlefield fan speculated: “DICE is using AI to design skins and create assets. The AI accidentally straight up generated the Ghost mask that was in its training dump. Not a good look.”
While there’s no proof that it is AI, as mentioned, Battlefield has recently been accused of selling AI cosmetics in the store, where a sticker has an M4A1 with two barrels, two dust covers, and no trigger.
Popular YouTuber JackFrags discussed “AI slop” in a recent video, saying the game needs a wake-up call, calling the sticker “clearly an AI-generated image that I can only assume wasn’t checked by a single human being.”
“This is a really bad look for the game and the kind of thing that makes people change their Steam review from positive to negative,” he said. “Also hurting sentiment and goodwill overall in the gaming community.”
