Artwork unveiled at Kiwanis All-Wheel Park
‘As we know, art is hugely important for our community. It brings together people in new ways’
The City of North Bay, together with members of the Public Art Advisory Committee, representatives from the Kiwanis Club, and local artists, gathered today to unveil new public artwork installed at the Kiwanis All-Wheel Park.
The All-Wheel Park now features a mural design made by Zandra Razack, selected through a public call for submissions, with the top three designs shortlisted by the PAAC and the final selection was made by public vote.
In addition to the 12 lamp post wraps featuring designs by local artists were also installed as part of the project.
The City thanks all the artists who participated, the Kiwanis Club for their continued partnership and the residents who took part in the public voting process.
“As we know, art is hugely important for our community. It brings together people in new ways,” said Justin Mallah, who spoke at a media event Wednesday afternoon at the new All-Wheel Park.
“It livens up spaces. It adds culture, it adds a sense of inclusivity and a sense of belonging into spaces. And so I’m really proud to be a member of the Public Art Advisor Committee, and I’m grateful for all of the artists who submitted.”
Selected from a total of 44 submissions the selected top artists are: Rowan Morin, Christine Young, Corbin Elliot, Diane Davies, Diane Scott, Diane Allen, Hannah Smith, Ilana Van Zyl, Jenna Furoy, Rana Thomas, Steven Kudla, Valeria Shibanova and Maxwell McElheron.
These installations are part of the City’s ongoing effort to support public art and create welcoming spaces.
