Artwork celebrating Jackson’s rich history goes for sale at city hall

JACKSON, Tenn. — The year-long Jackson-Madison County bicentennial may have come and gone, but the celebration continues.

This afternoon, the public was invited to stop by city hall to purchase prints of local artist Lendon Hamilton Noe’s “In this moment: an interpretation of 200 years of Jackson-Madison County history.”

The artwork is featured in the bicentennial art gallery at city hall.

More than a dozen pieces from the gallery have been hand-selected by Noe for reproduction and the unframed prints were sold to the public.

“My interest, this actually worked out well for me because this was my interest anyway was– what was life like for the ordinary person for the last 200 years in Jackson, Tennessee. So I tried, I’ve tried to portray what life was like for every segment of the population, including children, which I got a kick out of,” said Noe.

Noe says the artwork pays homage to the multi-faceted history of Jackson and Madison County throughout 200 years of history, culture, and community.
