100 Years Quest Anime With New Lucy Artwork
CBR Anime Week is brought to you by HULU ANIMAYHEM
The Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest anime finally premiered on screen on July 7, 2024. To celebrate the return of the popular shonen action series, a special illustration of Lucy Heartfilia was drawn by the creator of A Silent Voice.
Yoshitoki Oima, the author and illustrator of A Silent Voice, illustrated the Fairy Tail heroine for the series’ official social media X account, commemorating the TV airing of the 100 Years Quest anime series. Oima’s illustration of Lucy is a little risqué, as the Celestial Wizard is wearing little clothing sans a scarf around her chest. For longtime fans of Fairy Tail or fans of Hiro Mashima in general, the slightly suggestive artwork of Lucy isn’t far from the norm. However, for those who follow Oima’s works such as A Silent Voice or To Your Eternity, her somewhat provocative artwork of Lucy might come as a surprise.

Oima made a name for herself with the 2013 manga series A Silent Voice. The story follows Shoya Ishida as he tries to make amends to Shoko Nishimiya, a deaf high school girl whom he bullied in elementary school. A Silent Voice has been praised by fans and critics alike for its exploration of sensitive topics, such as disabilities, harassment, regret and suicide. A theatrical anime movie by Naoko Yamada (K-On!, Sound! Euphonium, The Heike Story) was released in 2016. Oima is currently working on To Your Eternity, which follows an immortal being named Fushi who takes up many forms to discover what it means to be human. An anime series of To Your Eternity aired in 2021 and will receive a third season, based on an official announcement in March 2023.
Fairy Tail & Creator Hiro Mashima Are Back in a Big Way
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest marks the official return of the fantasy anime series since it last signed off in 2019. The sequel series follows Lucy, Natsu Dragneel and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild members as they embark on an epic quest to seal the Five Dragon Gods before they destroy the world. In addition to a new TV anime series, Fairy Tail is receiving a video game sequel to the action role-playing game released in 2020. Mashima is also involved with the new monster-raising video game called Farmagia, which — as the name suggests — includes elements from farming simulation games, as well as monster-battling games like Pokémon or Palworld.
