TikTok bulletin boards available to more artists

A few months ago, we covered the news that the Jonas Brothers were testing TikTok’s new Bulletin boards. Since then, we’ve noticed a few other high-profile artists such as KATSEYE, Ed Sheeran or Tinie Tempah using the feature. Last week, TikTok announced the wider launch of bulletin boards for all creators over 18 years old with at least 50,000 followers globally.

The feature enables artists and other TikTok creators to share messages directly with followers who join their Bulletin board to get notified about updates – similar to Instagram’s Broadcast Channels. You can share text, image, and video updates in short messages. It could become a useful feature for artists on a platform where famously follower numbers matter less than engagement with each video you put out. For artists that have built decently sized audience on TikTok, finding ways to effectively reach them and build closer connections is key – and TikTok’s Bulletin Boards could be a powerful tool here. It also comes at a time where both Instagram and TikTok are putting increased focus into DMs – which artists and their teams should take note of.

Use Bulletin boards to share new tracks or albums with fans, promote pre-saves via TikTok’s ‘Add to Music App’ feature , or share exclusive messages and content. 

Here’s how you can set up an artist’s bulletin board: 

• Go to the account inbox and select “create a bulletin board”
• Choose a unique name
• Turn the “Show on profile” setting on or off based on preference
• Select ‘Create’ to open the bulletin board
