RA, BASEMENT and Wire Festival unveil new guide for US artist visas · News ⟋ RA
- It’s part of a months-long campaign to raise awareness around the unnecessarily strict visa process.

Resident Advisor, in partnership with New York nightlife mainstays BASEMENT and Wire Festival, has created a website to help overseas artists apply for a long-term US artist visa.
Called Artist Visa Guide, the free online handbook features essential information, FAQs and best practices for the three-year O-1 permit. The guide is designed to simplify the submission process for DJs and producers who may have been previously deterred from applying. The O-1 can be complex, challenging and pricey. It costs thousands of dollars and eligibility requirements are unnecessarily strict.
Artist Visa Guide is part of an extensive campaign organised by RA, BASEMENT and Wire Festival to shine a light on visa reforms. As part of the programme, RA published three investigative features about the visa’s harmful impact on US dance music scenes and artist careers, plus recommendations to rectify the problem.
