For this year’s Black Music Month, Tiny Desk gives female artists their flowers

Fans wait for it every year, flooding comment sections with eager speculation and fervent excitement. It’s Tiny Desk’s lineup for Black Music Month.

Every summer, popular Black artists cram their instruments, microphones and star power behind the cramped desk and deliver iconic music performances and viral moments. And this year’s lineup is all Black women.

Chaka Khan, Tems, SWV and more perform. We hear from Bobby Carter, host and series producer of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.
